Milngavie Football Club – ASN

ASN FootbALL

The ASN class was created in response to the Club’s community research and involvement, which identified a real lack of provision for sports and activities to young people with assisted needs within the local area. Providing a valuable activity such as football, to a marginalised group allows us to ensure that our Club remains as inclusive and accessible to all members of our community.

Sport can have a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities. Sport can play a key role in the lives and communities of people with disabilities, the same as it can for people without a disability.

We strongly believe our classes aids in

  • Building Confidence.
  • Improving enjoyment.
  • Developing transferable skills.
  • Increasing fitness levels.
  • Creates friendships.
  • Improves over all well-being.

Sadly, our classes were stopped during covid, much like everything else, and we have struggled to gain regular indoor pitches due to letting issues and the Allander Sports Centre undergoing a total rebuild. However, with the brand-new indoor Astro pitches now finished, this class is looking to get back to the forefront for this fantastic group.

Previously, this group has won the award for Best Para-Football Project in the 2020 Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, so we aim to get back to this level as soon as possible.
